Fair Vibes and Happy Hearts

Nov 10, 2023

The community came out in force to enjoy a beautiful day of sunshine, fun, shopping and entertainment at the 2023 Inala Fair. The hall was packed with beautiful Inala creations from our Day Services, Dulkara, Miroma, Wandana, Yallambee and Mingara. All the Fair favourites were back with the White Elephant and Book Stall along with our popular Upcycled Clothing Boutique. Beautiful spring blooms filled the Garden Stall and there were lots of happy winners at our hourly chocolate wheel spun by the volunteers from West Pennant Hills-Cherrybrook Lions Club.

As usual our BBQ was a sell out, along with our cake stall while our drink stand was pumping thanks to the hot weather. We would like to thank Member for Berowra Julian Leeser MP who opened the Fair with son James and daughter Ruth. We were also joined by Hornsby Mayor Philip Ruddock, Hills Mayor Dr Peter Gangemi, and Councillor Sreeni Pillamarri.

Opening our day of entertainment was the Hills District Pipe Band, who have been performing at Inala for more than 20 years. We also welcomed back to the stage the Cherrybrook Primary and Cherrybrook Tech Big Bands, Nova Studios and Brad Myers, former Inala staff member and contestant on the Voice.

We would like to acknowledge our 2023 Event Partner Hornsby Shire Council, whose support through a Community Event Grant has helped us raise in excess of $30,000. What a fantastic result!

We couldn’t put on the Fair without the assistance of our amazing volunteers! We would like to acknowledge a very long list of wonderful people who helped make the Inala Fair possible.

Thank you to the teams from Deloitte and Nexia who came out in force on the Friday before the Fair to help us set up in record time,

Bruce and his team from the West Pennant Hills-Cherrybrook Lions Club continue to support Inala running our Chocolate Wheel all day, helping us with a donation to help fill the wheel with plenty of amazing prizes.

The Eagling Family and friends who spent a long and hot day on the very popular BBQ.

The McBride Family who yet again baked and ran our cake stall, which was packed full of delicious treats.

Kimberley and the Holden Family along with Ian Landon-Smith who do an amazing job of running our garden stall, one of the draw cards for many attending our Fair.

Our sustainable fashion queens Coleen, Cleo and Lori along with their team of helpers who ran a very busy Clothing Boutique.

Thanks to Roger and Hilary McFetridge for their expertise on the pre-loved Book Stall.

Thanks to Florence and Rex Chandler for their work on the White Elephant Stall.

Our Day Services Manager Kathryn Gallagher and her family who stepped up for the White Elephant Stall this year.

We would like to acknowledge the Hornsby SES who for many years have attended and supported our Fair.

Inala Staff member Wiki along with her family and team of volunteers helped feed hungry Fair goers with delicious scones and cakes at Café Karimi.

Our gates were expertly staffed all day by the Longes and Messara families collecting gold coins on entry.

Our MC was Trevor Long who kept everyone updated on all the amazing entertainment and fun to be had at the Fair.

We would also like to acknowledge local businesses George’s Fine Meats, Zest Kellyville, Nicci’s Biccis, Martelli’s and Bakers Delight at Cherrybrook who all made donations towards the day.

Our trusty photographer Richard Kerslake was also on hand to capture all the fun.

We would also like to acknowledge the Inala Staff and their families who were here all weekend, our Events and Maintenance team, and our team from Finance who spent all day counting. Our Executive team manned our Info Stand while many of our Day Services ran the Inala Stalls in the hall. The Inala Spirit was certainly on display!
