Inala Fair Memories are the Sweetest!

Nov 4, 2024

WOW what an amazing day for the 2024 Inala Fair!

Thousands flowed through the Inala gates to enjoy a day of sunshine, fun, shopping and entertainment.

The Fair kicked-off with the opening conducted by Member for Berowra Julian Leeser MP and his son James, followed by a welcome from our new Patron Richard Wilkins and his son Adam.

All the Fair favourites were back with the White Elephant and Book Stall along with our popular Upcycled Clothing Boutique. Beautiful spring blooms filled the Garden Stall and there were lots of happy winners at our hourly chocolate wheel spun by the volunteers from West Pennant Hills-Cherrybrook Lions Club.

Our Inala artists had been busy creating some beautiful pieces and the hall was packed with art and craft from our Day Services, Dulkara, Miroma, Wandana, Yallambee and Mingara.

Throughout the day we were joined by Hornsby Mayor Warren Waddell, and Hornsby Councillor Nathan Tilbury along with Member for Castle Hill Mark Hodges. We also welcomed back former Inala Patron Blanche D’Alpuget.

Our entertainment schedule kept everyone dancing, opening the Fair was the Hills District Pipe Band, who we thank for their more than two decades of performing at the Inala Fair. We also welcomed back to the stage the Cherrybrook Primary and Cherrybrook Tech Big Bands, Nova Studios, the Special Olympic Dancers and the Star Ability Dance group.

We would like to acknowledge our 2024 Event Partner Hornsby Shire Council, whose support through a Community Event Grant has helped us raise nearly $40,000. What a fantastic result!

We couldn’t put on the Fair without the assistance of our amazing volunteers! We would like to acknowledge a very long list of wonderful people who helped make the Inala Fair possible.

Thank you to the teams from Deloitte and Nexia who came out in force on the Friday before the Fair to help us set up in record time.

Philip and his team from the West Pennant Hills-Cherrybrook Lions Club continue to support Inala running our Chocolate Wheel all day, helping us with a donation to help fill the wheel with plenty of amazing prizes.

The Eagling Family and friends who turn a sausage like no one else and ran the BBQ with precision. While the McBride Family were back again to run our cake stall.

Kimberley, Jill, Angus and the Holden Family along with Belinda Rowe turn their green thumbs to our garden stall, one of the draw cards for many attending our Fair.

Our sustainable fashion queens Coleen, Cleo and Marissa along with their team of helpers ran a very busy Clothing Boutique.

This year the unstoppable Alarna Longes and her family donated and ran the Fairy Floss and Popcorn stand, and she was able to source a number of Bring It in Swimwear which were sold for a bargain, with all money raised donated back to Inala. Thanks to her trusty sidekicks Lucy Messara, Irene Cominakis and Josie Marshall.

Thanks to Roger and Hilary McFetridge, and Tim Bushell for their expertise on the pre-loved Book Stall and Judy Whitlam along with Florence and Rex Chandler for their work on the White Elephant Stall.

Our Day Services Manager Kathryn Gallagher and her family stepped up for the White Elephant Stall this year, and they started the day with a long line of eager customers!

We would like to acknowledge the Cherrybrook RFS who visited our Fair for the first time – thank you for coming along and spreading the message of fire safety.

Inala Staff member Wiki Fox with Sue Marendy along with her family and team of volunteers helped feed hungry Fair goers with delicious scones and cakes at Café Karimi.

Our MC Trevor Long kept everyone updated on all the amazing entertainment and fun to be had at the Fair.

We would also like to acknowledge local businesses Zest Kellyville, and Bakers Delight at Cherrybrook who all made donations towards the day.

Our trusty photographer Richard Kerslake was also on hand to capture all the fun.

We would also like to acknowledge the Inala Staff and their families who were here all weekend, our Events and Maintenance teams, and our team from Finance who spent all day counting. Our Executive team and Board of Directors manned the BBQ for part of the day while many of our Day Service staff ran the Inala Stalls in the hall. The Inala Spirit was certainly on display!
