Steadfast Art Exhibition – Opening Night 2022

The opening night of Inala’s Steadfast Art Exhibition was a resounding success. Councillor Susan Wynne, Mayor of Woollahra Council, officially Opened the event at the Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, speaking eloquently about the essence of Inala in the local community and of our talented artists who showcased their diverse range of styles and techniques.

” Woollahra Council has a longstanding commitment to providing support for both the arts and to people living with a disability in our community, and we are so excited to be continuing this support through hosting this wonderful exhibition at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf.

Steadfast brings together works from our artists made before and during the pandemic. With the disruptions and restrictions to our community, our artists worked small creative bubbles, using colour and energetic forms to bring light in dark times. Our artists focused on long term ceramic projects, taking their time on canvas works, experimenting with collage, mixed media along with stencil and printmaking techniques to create a cohesive body of work. With bold colour, with confident strokes, with scale and mass this exhibition show cases more than just the talents of our artists. These works show the inner strength and perseverance to create and thrive in uncertain times.

This year’s exhibition comprises of over 45 artworks, including 2D works, felt works, as well as some 3D sculptures. A number of artworks were sold on the opening night, with sales set to continuing through the Gallery until June 12. Our art educators were thrilled with the feedback about the exhibition and appreciation for the work.

Kim Nicholas, Inala Board member spoke on behalf of Inala . “I’m elated that our artists are going from strength to strength and that every individual’s specific style really shone on the evening”.

Inala is very grateful to Woollahra Council for their ongoing support, particularly through the Community and Cultural Grants Program. The grant has contributed to the framing of the artworks, enabling us to present them in a professional manner.

We would also like to thank a number of wonderful people for their generous support; Sebastian Goldspink – the Gallery Manager, Inala staff – Keiran, Hopi, Victor, Ben, Liz, Varry and Pat for bringing the exhibition together and most importantly all the amazing and talented artists for their outstanding efforts.
