Kate McDougall, Day Services Manager at Miroma says “The art exhibition is the fruition of a year’s work and the artwork produced never ceases to amaze. It is always wonderful to see the great sense of pride and achievement each person feels seeing their artwork as part of the exhibition.”
All art works are created by individuals who attend Miroma and explore the theme ‘Art and Soul’, a reference to the expression and inner creativity which comes from the heart. All of the artists are supported to develop and explore their creativity, to encourage confidence and an ability express themselves in all areas of their lives.
Founded in 1958, Inala is committed to providing the highest quality support to individuals living with disability through a range of accommodation, day services and community supports. We are proud of our reputation for excellence, warmth, and care given to individuals and their families. Specialised Art Therapy has always been an integral part of the unique approach at Inala, providing opportunities for personal growth, skills development self-esteem and independence.
The launch was attended by Inala Patron and author, Blanche D’Alpuget, Woollahra Mayor Toni Zeltzer as well as Inala clients and their families, Inala supporters, staff and local community members.
The exhibition will be open from Friday 8th September and run until Saturday 23rd September. Most art works are for sale.
Inala is very grateful to Woollahra Council for their ongoing and generous support for this event through the Community Grant scheme. We also thank long standing partner, Holdsworth Community for the opportunity to showcase the art works in such a beautiful space. Special thanks also to local company Matilda Framing who continue to do a wonderful job framing the artworks and offer a donation by way of a discount.
