The Annual Inala Fair was a fantastic day held on Sunday 22nd October 2017 and was well supported by local community members, volunteers and sponsors. Despite some rain in the days prior, the sun shone brightly on the pristine Inala grounds. Within an hour of opening, the Fair was full of families, friends, children and supporters.
As usual the cake stall was a sell-out and the bookstalls, pre-loved clothing and garden stalls were buzzing as people flocked for a bargain. The live entertainment was a highlight and featured the Hills District Pipe Band, Nova Studios, Cherrybrook Technology High School Big Band, the Special Olympics Performance Group, West Pennant Hills Public School and Tangara School for Girls.
Children were spoilt for choice with so many attractions including bungee amongst the tall gum trees, face painting, pony rides, jumping castle and cup cake decorating. Delicious food on offer included scones and jam, wood fired pizza, Mrs Bella’s home-made pies and Churros and much more.
The quality of the arts and crafts was second to none and a number of stalls featured locally made produce, clothing and unique items. Inala parent, Mrs Riley was back for her 48th Inala Fair with her beautiful handmade children’s clothes and range of knitted garments.
Inala Joint Chief Executive Officer, Rebecca van Bilsen said “This was one of the best Fairs ever. It was wonderful to see so many Inala clients and families enjoying the day out as well as members of the local community. There were more children than in previous years and they loved the wide range of activities on offer”.
Loyal Inala supporter and Member for Epping, Damien Tudehope and his wife Diane tried their luck on the Chocolate Wheel and browsed the book stall. Inala Patron, author Blanche D’Alpuget, managed a start on her Christmas Shopping at the Children’s clothing and Gift stores as well as admiring the arts and crafts made by Inala clients.
The success of the Fair would not have been possible without our sponsors including Vittoria Coffee, Faber Castell, Upstream Print Solutions, Martelli’s Fruit Markets, Event Cinemas and George Fine Meats. We would also like to thank the invaluable help of the volunteers from Rotary Club of Beecroft, Cherrybrook Leos and Cherrybrook Lions Club.
This year the Fair raised a record result with a net profit of $55,000. All proceeds raised help Inala provide opportunities for individuals with disability to create, connect and grow.
