New encounters reflects the arrival of Hopi and Kieran to the art department at Miroma, which blossomed into an inspired freedom of expression for the artists as they got to know their new teachers.
‘We just let them go for it; it really freed them up, so we continued that approach throughout the year,’ says Hopi.
Kieran continues, ‘We used change as an opportunity to try new things and not be afraid of that.’
The result of a year’s work, and many hours, the exhibition is a celebration of individual artistic achievement and the outward manifestation of the internal world.
‘It is an honour to work with these artists; they are the most joyful, delightful, giving individuals,’ noted Kieran.
Inala would like to thank Woollahra Council through the Community Grants Program, the wonderful people at Gaden Cafe and The Holdsworth Centre, A Sound Life, and Hannah Kim from Eden Art Framing in Rose Bay for their generous and continued support.
New Encounters will run from 7 September to 21 September at the Gaden Cafe, 334 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra. Open from 9 am til 3 pm weekdays, all proceeds from art sales are returned to the art program at Miroma.
