Celebrating International Day of People with Disability

For the fourth year in a row, Inala was pleased to be invited to hold an art exhibition at the Qantas head office in Mascot.

Held from 29 November to 3 December and titled Taking Flight IV, it was an opportunity for clients from Miroma and Dulkara to mix with Qantas staff, display and talk about their artwork, as well as sell a range of mediums from acrylics to jewellery, felting and handmade cards.

The final day of the exhibition coincided with International Day of People with Disability. Qantas celebrated the day with a variety of events, including an inspiring panel discussion by Paralympians Nic Beveridge, Annabelle Williams and Madison de Rozario who challenged us to ensure that those living with disability are not just represented in society, but are visible within our local and greater communities.

We would like to thank Qantas for hosting such an inspiring day; one that went beyond shining a light on the many contributions and achievements of those living with disability, but broadened all our experience of disability and encouraged us to be more mindful and more inclusive.

To paraphrase today’s speakers – everyone can be kind, everyone can understand, everyone can educate and everyone can break down barriers. In our personal lives, in our workplace, and in our communities.
