This year we set out to raise $300,000 to make much-needed construction upgrades to our day service Dulkara, Centre for Life Skills and the Arts, and we are very pleased to report we recently reached that target!
Thanks to each of our amazing supporters we raised $187,000 as part of the Inala Tax Appeal. We then had a phone call from the Goh Family who generously offered to make up the difference so we could reach our target of $300,000!
To be able to reach this goal and make the necessary upgrades to Dulkara, means we are able to continue to run all of the programs and services such as woodwork, pottery, art and cooking.
It will make a difference to so many individuals, including Nicola, who has been taking part in the woodworking program at Dulkara and it has led her to discover a passion for restoring furniture. The Dulkara Woodworking Group has been collecting second-hand chairs which Nicola is lovingly bringing back to life. Nicola’s chairs are being used at Dulkara and have been gifted to friends. To not only be empowered to do something she is passionate about, but to see her chairs used by friends gives Nicola’s work true purpose.
Seeing Nicola loving to create gives us a great sense of joy and relief that she has a purpose and sense of achievement. It improves her self esteem and self worth and the smile on her face says it all. Contentment. Robyn, Nicola’s Mum.
Thank you to the Goh Family and everyone who supported our 2024 Tax Appeal. It will allow us to continue to offer unique services and supports for many individuals who attend our Dulkara Centre for Life Skills and the Arts.
Dulkara is not just a place, it is a community where people accomplish and contribute something meaningful.
